Barbara D. Welch

Treasurer

Barbara is the founder of Inheritance Development LLC, a firm offering business and financial coaching and consulting, and real estate development services focused on creating opportunities for sustainable, high value projects in business and real estate.

As treasurer, Barbara is responsible for ensuring the financial matters of the organization are managed with excellence and integrity. Appropriately, she holds a BBA from Howard University, and a Masters in Personal Financial Planning, from the College for Financial Planning.

Barbara joined the board because of her attraction to the vision of creating a world-class institution that focuses on African American culture and perspective, as a means to create change now and for future generations. As a founding board member, she hopes to help plan and launch a world-class cultural center that is structurally sustainable and will inspire this generation and future generations to believe and achieve more. She envisions the NIA Centre to be an impetus to help make Grand Rapids a place where all people thrive.

When not working or serving on the NIA Centre board, Barbara enjoys building community through her involvement in the community. She enjoys the arts, especially African inspired art expression. She also enjoys international travel and especially, spending time with her family.
