The My Story 5 event will graphically depict how African Americans have been impacted by prejudice, bigotry, racism, and negative stereotypes. In addition, the exhibition will graphically display how these issues have led to African Americans constantly being subject to trauma threatening their physical and mental health. This major art exhibition will feature artwork created by emerging African American artist Esan Sommersell. The collection will tell an impactful story that will challenge the exhibition attendees not to be silent about these critical issues that harm African Americans. The exhibit is an effort to provide art access, promote civic discussion, find solutions, and prompt action through equity in art by highlighting the talent of emerging artist Esan Sommersell. Mr. Sommersell’s skills have been recognized by local, national, and internationally respected artists John McDonald and Paul Collins.
